The Coleman 4 Person Instant Tent is one of our favorites. For a four-person tent especially, setup and breakdown couldn’t be easier. You can arrive at your site, setup and be inside in less than 2 minutes. Although the tent is not completely waterproof it is heavily water resistant made from 150D/150D Polyester/taped seams. So if you are going to be somewhere where the weather can be unpredictable bring an extra rainfly or tarp. However, you won’t have to worry about water seeping in from the bottom due to Coleman’s patented Weathertec system which includes welded floors and inverted seams. Inside is perfect for 2 with an air mattress + gear or 3 with sleeping bags. 4 adults may find the fit a bit snug. For those camping in the heat, the large side windows provide excellent cross breezes to help keep things cool. This is one of Coleman’s better tents for sure. At just under 10 pounds this isn’t the best tent for backpacking unless you plan on just doing some good old fashioned tent or car camping.
PROs: Easy setup with the pop-up feature, good space for 2 or 3 people plus gear, very water resistant and protected flooring with Coleman’s Weathertec system.
CONs: Not waterproof, not big enough for 4 people, Too heavy for backpacking
The Sundome 4 Person Tent is a great, inexpensive tent perfect for the car camper. Weighing in at 8 pounds this isn’t the ideal backpacking tent unless you’re really looking to give your legs and back a workout, or you have 3 people who can split the carrying duties. The tent can be set up in less than 10 minutes by simply sliding the included continuous poles through the snag free sleeves. The Sundome can hold its own against most extreme weather with a well-designed fly the deflects rain from the sides and prevents water from gathering in puddles above you. Also, the floor is built with very thick tarp-like integrity with Coleman’s WeatherTec system tub-like floor design to keep any resting water under you from seeping inside. Inside the tent can fit taller campers and/or a queen size air mattress with little extra space. Great air ventilation with the 2 big side windows and with the rainfly awning design you can keep air flowing through as the rain falls. Great for the price as a starter tent or backup.

CONs: Heavier tent at 8 pounds, bottom seams tend to tear a bit, blowing sideways rain gets inside
