TETON Sports Scout 3400 Internal Frame Backpack is very similar to the Mountain Adventurer 4000 Backpack but with a slightly bigger frame and less weight. For a bag well under $100 you get a ton of useful features like well-placed pockets, a sleeping bag compartment, and with 3400 cubic inches, you’d be hardpressed to not be able to fit all that you need for a few nights in the outdoors. The multi-position torso adjustment including bendable aluminum stays along with thick back and lower lumbar padding make this bag versatile and comfortable enough for a variety of different backpacker body types. The breathable mesh is a good addition for ensuring air circulation and the longevity of the bag and your clothing. At 5 pounds this bag is lightweight for the amount that you can lug. A big complaint is that the shoulder padding was poorly stitched and tears easily. Externally this bag is made of durable ripstop nylon so it can handle some abuse. There’s plenty of compartments to hold smaller items for better organization. Another complaint about this bag is that we had a zipper break while testing which could be a bag to bag case. The included free rain cover also sweetens the deal.

PROS: Big bag at only 5 pounds with plenty of space, lots of storage pockets for good organization, free rain cover, breathable mesh against your back

CONS: Cheap shoulder stitching, zippers break easily
