About Turkey Hunting Vests

For any turkey hunter staying organized on the hunt is incredibly important.

Whether you’re runnin’ and gunnin’ or just sitting and calling you’ll need to have all of your important items in a secure location within an easy grasp.

Any way that you can eliminate a lot of movement, i.E. Not frantically searching for a call or ammo when you need it, gives you the best shot of landing a gobble

Especially since the slightest movement can get you busted.

Most vests come with a good variety of pockets that can hold everything you need to carry while hunting.

These include pockets for specific calls like slate and pot calls, box calls, and diaphragm calls.

If you’re looking to film your hunt or take pictures you’ll have plenty of pockets to hold filming gear.

Of course, these pockets are also perfect to hold essentials like your phone, keys, GPS and binoculars.

This is much easier than having to hold these things in your pants pockets where they can easily fall out.

A lot of vests will include pockets built for ammo and scopes.

Some hunters won’t need the extra ammo, but for those who do this is a great storage option.

Nowadays more and more people are carrying decoys in their vest as they’re being built to shrink down to easily fit in your pocket.

There are also a lot of turkey vests with padded shooting shoulders which will help absorb the recoil from your shotgun.

This is a great feature for less experienced shooters who haven’t built up a strong shoulder callus.

Many vests will come with at least a harness, if not a whole compartment to store your harvested bird.

No more running back and forth to your truck every time you want to film something or you forget a locator call.
