Our Take:
The Salomon Women’s X Ultra Mid 2 GTX Hiking Shoe is a great hiking boot/running shoe hybrid perfect for those looking for some extra versatility in a lightweight hiking shoe.
The shoes are waterproof with Gore-Tex for protection and ventilation and will keep you protected in most terrain and weather.
You also get Gore’s lifetime guarantee.
The laces are held and secured with well-placed and durable rounded eyelets.
The uppers include plenty of mesh for breathability which makes these great for warmer weather hiking and complements the Gore-Tex.
The tongue is stitched all the way to the top of the boot for additional waterproofing.
The shoe itself is very durable and Salomon’s “Contagrip” offers premium traction to help you manage even the most challenging terrain including slippery rock, wet flatlands or even just uphill or downhill gradients.
The bottom also works well with the uppers to provide lots of flexibility.
Unfortunately, these are not the most comfortable hiking shoes.
They fit a little too tight on the sides and the top of the foot.
The fit is right in the back and the arch but after miles in these, your foot may start to get irritated on the top of the foot.
Of course, that varies from foot to foot.
