Cons Door zippers can let some water in if the rain is heavy, , , ,
    Our Take:

The CORE 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent is a big, spacious, instant tent that works great for any group or family camping experience.

This is an instant tent so it sets up super quick, in only a few minutes.

All you have to do is simply remove it from the box, lay it out over a tarp and simply extend the poles and lock them in to secure the tent’s form.

Setup can be done by 1 person easily, although because this is a bigger tent, 2 people can get it done in half the time.

All the sides are already hooked into the mainframe, which saves some time as well.

As opposed to some other instant tents, this tent comes with stakes which are absolutely recommended to keep this tent in place and to keep its form.

There’s even a rain fly, which is another great add-on that you don’t find with many instant tents, that can even be fully tied down.

At 14 x 9 feet, this tent has plenty of space for 2 queen size beds and many other goodies that you want to have when you’re glamping.

The center is 78 inches which offers plenty of headspace and makes it so you can actually stand up inside the tent.

Although it’s advertised as a 9-person tent, you’re best off using this for 4 or 5 people with a ton of extra space.. although in a bind you could fit 9.

The Core tent handles very well in heavy rain in wind. Not sure how it does in a monsoon, but it can handle most bad weather conditions.

The only complaint on the rain fly is that it does not create an awning or vestibule which can lead to some water leaking on you as you enter or leave the tent.

The room divider is nice, especially if you’re a family traveling with children, it’s almost like a slice of home.

There’s also plenty of windows that easily zip open to keep the tent ventilated along with multiple doors for easy entry and exit.

If you’re looking for a touch of low-maintenance luxury on your camping trip and want to keep your whole crew together then this tent will work perfectly for your adventure!

  3. Coleman Evanston Screened Tent

  4. Editors Rating:
    (4.9 / 5)

    People 6
    Seasons 3
    Weight 19.4 lbs
    Packed Dimensions 10"L x 10"W x 28"H
    Assembled Dimensions 168"L x 120"W x 69"H
    Current Price from $106.89
Pros Lots of space for up to 4 people, Built in porch for extra space, Awnings built over the windows help keep water out, Lots of ventilation,
Cons Some problems being able to full zip because of the nonstretchy material, Not great weather protection, Cheap mesh on the windows, ,
    Our Take:

The Coleman Evanston Screened Tent features a very spacious interior both horizontal and vertical.

An averaged size person can easily stand inside this tent.

4 people can sleep very comfortable inside with all their gear included. 6 people might be a tight squeeze but depending on their size can conceivably be done.

2 people will live like kings. We’ve taken this out into the rain and it actually holds up quite well against very harsh rain and wind.

Setup is fairly easy, only because of the size does it take a little longer but can be fairly simple even for the novice camper.

The tent consists of a main room and a “porch” of sorts, which can act as a nice area to use for extra storage.

Keep your dirty, smelly gear away from where you and your camping mates are sleeping, everyone will be happier.

If you have an overflow of people, stick them on the porch or sleep there yourself for some extra space.

Even the porch area stays mostly dry in the harsh rain.

If you anticipate rain coming, try setting up your tent so the porch faces slightly downhill as there is a 2-inch mesh rim the connects the porch floor to the porch screen that helps filter water off the tent material.

Also, keep in mind that it can get quite chilly in colder weather due to all the extra ventilation.

    People 12

    Weight 52.5 lbs
    Assembled Dimensions L 18' x W 10' X H 6'8"
    Rainfly No
    Current Price from $341.16
Pros Lots of space, enough for 12 people, 2 wall separators make 3 separate rooms, 80 inches of head space, Instant, pre-built frame, Included Rain Fly
Cons Zippers can break easily, , , ,
    Our Take:

The CORE 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent – 18′ x 10′ is a giant tent that works perfectly for bigger families, scout groups, or smaller groups who just want a whole lot of space.

Total floor space in the CORE 12 person tent is 18′ x 10′ which is a lot of floor space to work within the outdoors.

Unlike some other multi-room tents this all just one big room, versus wasting space on tunnels and extra patios.

There is also 80 inches of headroom so it will fit most campers, even tall campers can stand straight up in this tent.

You get 2 room dividers which will turn this into a 3 room tent which is perfect for families who want to keep parents and kids separate.

There are 2 doors, one on the front and one on the back sides of this tent for easy entry and exit. Especially with a tent that can hold so many people, this is very important.

This is an instant tent that comes with a pre-assembled frame so setup is a breeze. Simply unpack the tent unfold it and then lift the poles and bars into the right spaces and clip the shell material. This can be done in under 5 minutes.

There are plenty of zip up windows all the way around the tent which helps to create plenty of air circulation.

There are even adjustable air intake vents which draw in cool air from the ground for added air ventilation.

The CORE 12 also has you covered for rain protection. It comes with a fully taped rainfly with sealed seams, while the entire tent itself is built with water repellent fabrics including rain-resistant doors and window seals.

The rain fly even creates a bit of a canopy over the door and gives some space over the windows to keep any rain from getting inside the tent.  It’s also very easy to clip into the main frame of the tent.

The T-style front door makes getting in and out easy and secure and the back door is built as a D-style and doesn’t zip all the way down.

There are multiple clips overhead for lamps, etc and plenty of storage pockets all around the tent for storing smaller items.

    People 8
    Seasons 4
    Weight 84.6 lbs
    Assembled Dimensions L 10' X W 14' X 6'6" H
    Rainfly No
    Current Price $599.00
Pros Plenty of space inside with 6'6" of standing space, Super tough steel pole construction, Lots of ventilation, Materials are made from Hydra-Shield, 100% cotton duck canvas, 4-season large tent
Cons The floor is not bathtub style and can sink easily into puddles, , , ,
    Our Take:

The Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Deluxe 8-Person Tent is a super tough and durable 4-season tent that you can take on any outdoor adventure, anywhere in the world in any condition to fit any larger group of campers.

The tent’s exterior is made form Hydra-Shield, 100% cotton duck canvas that is durable, watertight and breathable materials. This is stitched together with a tight weave and silicone finish making this tent watertight and breathable. This also helps to eliminate condensation and mugginess.

The seams are double stitched while the corners are double reinforced so you get an extra strong tent that can hold up to rain, wind and even snow.

The frame can be easily put together by one person and includes 1-inch steel tubing and solid spring rods made from high tensile spring steel to make this one of the toughest tent constructions you will find.

The floor is built with 16-ounce vinyl that is thick enough to stay puncture proof and will keep water out. This is great, especially when taking this Kodiak tent out into rougher weather conditions.

Along with having capacity for 8 campers, the height is 6’6″ so you most people can actually stand inside this tent.

The zippers are also built tough to withstand the rigorous wear and tear that comes with most camping tents.

You get 2 doors with this tent which is a huge plus in a higher capacity tent. This eliminates having to walk over other campers to get in and out which comes in handy, especially at night.

The windows come in handy in the warmer months to increase air circulation which is very important especially for a heavier, winterized tent like this, but even in the colder temps, there are several air flow vents that will help circulate air when the windows are up.

There is a gear loft and plenty of pockets which come in handy to keep more important items off the floor and help keep you organized.

One of the most useful features is the added awning which attaches to the front which especially comes in handy when it’s raining. It can be used to cover the entrance, store extra gear without fear of it soaking and even open the front windows while the rain is falling for more ventilation.

Packing up is easy with the strap and cinch storage bag that easily wraps around the tent for faster clean up, versus having to jimmy it all inside a small bag like you get with most tents.

    People 9
    Seasons 3
    Weight 36 lbs
    Assembled Dimensions 14' X 10' X 7'
    Rainfly Yes
    Current Price $237.21
Pros Lots of room inside 14' L X 10'W X 7' H, Easy setup even for 1 person, Included room dividers, Comes with a fan, light, and battery pack, 5 windows for great ventilation
    Cons Only one door, , , ,
    Our Take:

The Coleman Prairie Breeze 9-Person Cabin Tent is a great, big tent that will give you and your group, family, or posse enough space to stay comfortable and really get the most out of the outdoors.

It is 14′ L X 10’W X 7′ H, so there’s plenty of room area and also plenty of space to actually stand up inside which is hard to do in most smaller tents.

Although this is a massive tent, it can still be easily set up by one person in about 20 minutes. Having a second or even third set of hands would definitely speed up the process, and if you need this tent in the first place, chances are you’ll have that extra set of hands!

It is a Coleman fast pitch tent and the poles are color coded for some extra help in arranging and pitching the tent.

There is one door, which is kind of a drawback since multiple doors on such a big tent would seem more appropriate. Not a deal breaker but just keep this in mind.

However, there are 5 zip-up windows all the way around the frame of the tent for excellent ventilation.

This tent is hooked up with features as it comes with a fan that easily connects to the top with a switch that runs it in 2 speeds and 2 directions. The fan is fairly basic so don’t expect it to necessarily cook you off on a hot day, but it is great for added air circulation.

There is a light on the fan which comes in handy at night and gives you one less thing to bring on your glamping trip!

The tent includes a small zip-up port of entry for cables to come inside if you’re running a generator or any power outside the tent.

There’s even a room dividing wall for those groups who want a little extra privacy.

    Rainfly Yes
    Current Price $124.72
Pros Fully waterproof tent, Can fit 10 people, 2 room dividers break it into 3 rooms, Included rain fly, Vestibule and sturdy frame
Cons The front door zippers get stuck sometimes, , , ,
    Our Take:

The Ozark WT172115 Trail 10-Person Family Tent is a versatile, large tent that works perfectly for large family camping trips and as a main basecamp tent.

This 10-person tent is built incredibly well.

    It’s total space dimensions are L 21′ X W 15′ X H 6.5′.

There are 2 wall dividers, with that create 3 separate rooms which work perfectly for anyone who wants to create a bit of privacy.

You can easily fit 2 or 3 queen sized air mattresses inside.

There’s even an attached screen porch made of polyester taffeta and polyester mesh which creates a small front patio where you can sit outside on a nice day and enjoy the outdoors without getting bit up by mosquitos.

This OZARK 10 person tent is totally waterproof made from polyester taffeta and polyester mesh while the floor is coated with polyurethane.

While the floor is waterproof and contains fully taped seams it is not tub style, unfortunately.

However, there is a rainfly that comes with the tent that rolls back for more exposure to the open windows and top ventilation.

There are even some small buffers against the front door to help keep water from seeping inside from the wet ground.

There’s also ground vents around the tent to get some ventilation coming from the floor.

The rainfly even covers the front “patio” screen to create a vestibule for extra space and storage.

There’s even a small compartment on the front wall where you can store shoes to help keep bugs out.

All around the tent are small storage compartments to store all kinds of smaller, important supplies like phone, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc

The fiberglass pole frame is sturdy and easy to put together.

There’s an E-port on the front where you can run cords in and out of the tent.

One of the coolest parts about the OZARK Trail Family Cabin Tents is that you get a ton of options for different sizes, designs and colors.

These tents come in 4/6/8/10/12 person capacity tents, and many even come with an included airbed.

They also come in a number of different colors and layouts including a more flat and straight layout to adding on screened patios and vestibules.

Pros Large enough for 12 people, Vestibule included, Bathtub style, tough built flooring, 6'9" height in the center,
Cons Rain fly can be tough to set up, , , ,
    Our Take:

The NTK Super Arizona GT up to 12 Person 20.6 by 10.2 by 6.9 Height Foot Sport Family XL Camping Tent is a monster tent built by NTK that will fit a few families, a big group or just a solo glamper who wants lots and lots of space!

    The tent’s dimensions are 6.9 (H) x 10.2 (W) x 20.6 (L) and weighs 39.77 lbs.

This tent includes 2 doors which makes getting in and out very easy, along with a room divider which comes in handy especially if you’re traveling with multiple groups.

There are 3 windows that are made from an ultra-slim polyester micro-mesh material that protects you and your family from mosquitoes and other small insects.

The frame is sturdy and durable consisting of fiberglass rods connected with internal elastic and chrome plated ferrules along with high-quality and extra-thick Nano-Flex technology, which keeps the tent poles interconnected with high-performance bungee and durable galvanized steel parts.

The outer shell is made with 100% Waterproof 190T polyester laminated with polyurethane (2500mm water column) and partially aluminum, heat-welded and seam-sealed with UV protection.

The rainfly is also very effective at keeping everyone and everything inside the tent high and dry.

The tent floor is designed with NTK’s state-of-the-art bathtub-style construction, made from a durable anti-fungus seamless polyethylene and an inner silver-coated layer to ensure you stay dry and protected. This helps keep any puddles or even seepage below you from getting inside.

Setting up the NTK Super Arizona 12 Person tent is fairly easy with an innovative pin-and-ring system for enhanced, easy assembly.

This freestanding tent has a max height of 6’9″ which is great for taller campers and anyone who wants to actually stand up inside.

We loved the outside vestibule, especially if it rains, it allows you to keep the door open to let in fresh air. Just be careful of the bugs. It also provides extra storage for any dirty, muddy backpacking gear.

    People 9
    Seasons 3
    Assembled Dimensions L 10 X W 15 X 87"
    Current Price $193.00
Pros Lots of space inside, 87 inches of height to stand, Room divider, Vertical walls, Easy setup
Cons Door zippers use cheap pull string, , , ,
    Our Take:

The Browning Camping Big Horn Family/Hunting Tent is a great family tent for anyone looking for extra space in the outdoors.

This tent is absolutely massive and offers plenty of space for a big group at 10 feet by 15 feet with an 87-inch ceiling.

This means, not only is there plenty of space for all your glamping gear, but there’s even enough space to actually stand up which is rare in most other camping tents.

One big advantage to this tent over other bigger tents is that the walls are actually vertical as opposed to other tents which slope a bit. This little adjustment actually offers even more space and helps with water from the rain.

There are 2 large doors which we love since this gives more options for getting in and getting out no matter what part of the tent you’re in, versus having only one door and needing to step over other people.

There’s a room divider which is great for parents who want some privacy away from the kids.

This is a free-standing tent that includes fiberglass poles so setup is fairly simple and can be done in a matter of minutes, even by one person, while the frame stays strong and durable. This helps especially in windy situations.

Along with the 2 doorways, there are 6 windows circled around the tent, along with a mesh roof which gives this tent plenty of ventilation making this a great summer tent no matter where you’re going.

It even comes with a polyester rain fly to protect your family from the rain.

Inside the tent, there are a number of well-placed storage pockets to store all your important supplies, games, lights, phones, etc.

There are stakes included for added stability and will also help the Browning Camping Big Horn Family/Hunting Tent keep its form especially in less than ideal conditions. You may want to invest in some stronger and thicker stakes since the tent is bigger and can use more support.

The zippers on the door are thick and glide quite easily along the teeth of the zipper. One drawback is that they’re held by strings which over time will wear down and maybe even fall off.

    Seasons 3
    Weight 31.6 lbs
    Assembled Dimensions 13' H X 7' W X 6'6" H
    Current Price from $210.00
Pros Good size tent for a family of 4 or 5, Foot cabinets for extra storage, Plenty of storage pockets around the tent, Rain fly included,
Cons Rain fly not totally sealed, , , ,
    Our Take:

The Coleman Tenaya Lake 6 Person Fast Pitch Cabin with Cabinets is a great 2 room tent that will work great for family camping trips by the lake or anywhere you anticipate dealing with unpredictable weather.

    The dimensions of this tent are 13′ H X 7′ W X 6’6″ H.

Setting up this tent is very easy and can be done quite fast.

Although not an instant tent, the poles of the Tenaya Lake 6 person tent are all connected through a pre-attached, color-coded hub that helps to alleviate precious setup time looking at directions and wondering which side of poles clip to other sides of other poles.

These fiberglass poles are strong and can stand up to stronger wind gusts.

The pole footings are also easily placed into the ground with Coleman’s fast footing ends.

The sides of the tent walls easily clip onto the poles via Coleman’s Insta-clip suspension.

Coleman advertises this as enough space for 6-8 people. To fit 8 people would be a stretch but a family of 4 or 5 will find plenty of space in this big camping tent.

There is 1 room dividing wall that will give a nice separation between parents and kids. Each room will be able to fit a queen size mattress or 2 small twins plus camping gear.

There are a number of good size zip up, mesh windows all the way around the tent for excellent air circulation.

The rainfly is also quite easy to pitch and stake out.

The rainfly is built tough, although you may want to spray some extra waterproofing or sealer on since some of the seams are not fully stitched.

Also keep in mind with the rain fly on, that it angles above the door in a way that you may get some water inside the door if it’s left open while it’s raining.

The feet cabinets are a really cool feature as they can be added onto the tent and allow you a 2’X2′ space for extra shoe and gear storage. This is huge since this tent doesn’t include a vestibule.

Inside the tent, there are also a few included storage pockets for smaller items.

    Weight 66 lbs
    Assembled Dimensions 12' L X 9' W X 7.5' H
    Rainfly Yes
    Current Price $1,544.00
Pros Durable canvas material, Lots of room inside, Large mesh windows and door for added air circulation, Steel frame,
    Cons 66 lbs, very heavy, , , ,
    Our Take:

The Trek Tents 245C Canvas Cabin 9′ x 12′ Heavy Duty Cotton Camping 7 Person Tent w/ Fly Cover is a strong, robust tent for old-school campers who opt for the durability of camping with a classic canvas tent over the more modern nylon and polyester.

    The dimensions of this tent are around 12′ L X 9′ W X 7.5′ H.

There is a ton of space inside, enough to fit 7 people, although this will work optimally for 4-5 people to sleep comfortably.

Along with the canvas exterior the interior is made from a 1″ diameter powder coated steel frame, so needless to say once the Trek Tents 245C Canvas Cabin it will take all of what mother nature’s got to take it down.  Or a kid with a lighter.

As tough as this tent is against the elements it is quite easy for the camper to set up.  The poles are chain linked for easier assembly.  Once set up the center ridge has sleeve pole tunnel for “no-sag” appearance which helps the integrity of the entire tent.

As opposed to a lot of newer, polyester tents, this canvas tent can be used year round.  In the winter it’s completely airtight with all the windows and door closed.

When it’s warmer out you have three extra large screen windows with inside zip storm flaps that zip up and down easily for added air circulation.

The windows are built with no-See-Um mesh so you can open up for cool air and breezes without the mosquitos and bugs coming inside.

You also don’t have to worry about any rogue UV passing through the materials, so the tent stays very cool.

For weather protection, the canvas holds up quite well to the elements, but you also get a very durable rain fly with this tent.

The rain fly covers the entire top and over the tops of the sides of the tent.  There is a reflective side that reflects the suns which will already help keep the inside cool, but then there’s a bit of space between the fly and the roof of the tent for added insulation.

The only downside is this tent is 66 lbs which is very heavy.  Great as a car camping, family tent with multiple people setting up.  Just keep in mind when planning your trip

    Assembled Dimensions L 17'x W 9' X 6'8" H
    Rainfly Yes
    Current Price from $248.02
Pros Large living space for 2 or campers, Large screened area for enjoying the outdoors, Included LED light w. Light switch, Coleman's patented WeatherTec system,
Cons The light switch can break easily, , , ,
    Our Take:

The Coleman Elite WeatherMaster 6 Screened Mulit-Room Tent is a great tent for the smaller group, couple, or even solo adventurer looking for a more “studio apartment” type feel in their outdoor accommodations.

The WeatherMaster 6 is broken up into 2 different spaces. You have the main room and adjacent to a screen room that’s more like a patio.

The total space is L 17’x W 9′ with 6’8″ of height in the center. Most campers will have no problem standing inside with plenty of space above your heads.

The main sleeping room is 11′ X 9′ and can fit 6 sleepers, although that many could be a tight squeeze. If it’s nice out then you could fit some in the screened room for a little extra space.

The screen room is 6′ X 9′ and has more of an apartment patio type feel.

The screen room is perfect for storage like for boots, backpacks, fishing gear, hunting gear, etc. It’s also great for sitting outside on a nice day, drinking a beer and enjoying the outdoors.

The downside is that the screen room is not incredibly conducive to people sleeping and can almost seem like wasted space if you don’t utilize it for storage or sitting. Nothing wrong with extra space, but if your traveling it’s a lot of extra weight for no actual use.

The construction of the this Coleman WeatherMaster tent is built specifically for comfort and unpredictable weather and includes Coleman’s patented WeatherTec system.

It includes a durable waterproof bathtub style floor with welded corners and floor seams. Coleman has eliminated the stitching holes found in other tent tub floors.

The main shell of the tent is made from high strength polyester taffeta 75D with inverted stitched seams and polyurethane coating. Seam stitching on the inside provides even more protection against rain.

The frame is super robust with shock-corded poles for more strength and stability.

We stress about zipper a lot and this tent includes the zipper cuff feature which is a flap that protects the zippers on the doors so they don’t get weathered by water and elements.

The coolest part about this tent is the LED Lighting System, which is a great convenience, easy to use and provides 3 modes of light (Hi, Low, Night Light) all controlled by a handy illuminated wall switch.

    Our Take:

The Ozark Trail Base Camp 14-Person Cabin Tent is a uniquely designed tent for big groups or families who want the outdoors to feel as homely as possible.

This multi-room tent includes 4 doors so entering and exiting is incredibly easy and convenient.

One of the coolest (no pun intended) parts of this tent are all the 12 windows. Especially with the untraditional tent layout, having this much ventilation truly keeps this cool and allows you to enjoy those amazing summer breezes.

Along with the windows, the top is made with mesh which is also great for those warmer summer months and star gazing.

Although this tent is big and has an unconventional tent design Ozark was still able to provide a tarp to cover the top. Keep in mind that unlike other traditional tents, this tarp is not hooked up like a rain fly and although it will keep water out, it doesn’t give a vestibule or awning over the window and water can seep inside if not positioned correctly.

There are multiple room dividers that can break up the tent into 4 different rooms. Each room comes with a ceiling hook to hang a light or small fan along with pockets for extra storage.

For such a big tent setup is relatively quick and simple. Average time take saround 20 minutes.

The frame and poles are very sturdy and are fairly easy to set up.

For those who plan on doing some backpacking, or any outdoor activities the Ozark tent comes with a mud mat and convenient shoe storage. This will help keep the inside of your tent clean and preserve it for many years.

There is an electric port where you can feed power in and out of the tent for anyone hooking up a generator or RV power.

With over 7 feet of height, you’ll have enough room to stand up, even for taller campers.

Pros Big sleeping space with an additional screen porch, Lots of ventilation and air circulation, Plenty of space for extra storage, ,
Cons Although billed as waterproof with water "repellent" with weather-repellent polyester with polyurethane coating is a little suspect water tends to seap through in bigger storms., , , ,
    Our Take:

Wenzel 8 Person Klondike Tent is perfect for those bigger camping trips with friends and family and you want to keep everyone under one roof.

    The dimensions of this tent are L 16′ X W 11′ X 6.5 H

It’s made of 2 sections including the main housing and a screened porch.

The main housing sleeps 4-5 fairly comfortably while the porch can add another 2-3 if you need to squeeze people in.

There’s only one door in and out of the main room, which isn’t ideal, especially when cramming more than a few campers inside. However, the door is Inverted “T” style, interior flex style to keep any falling rain from getting inside.

There is plenty of ventilation all over the tent.

In the main section, there are 2 giant mesh windows that make for great ventilation and several lower air vents to get some more fresh air coming from the ground into the main room.

The sturdy frame is made from fiberglass poles which help keep the integrity of the tent’s construction intact during harsher weather, wind or even campers struggling to get the tent setup.

The outer porch section is basically all mesh for relaxing, bug-free lounging and night-time stargazing.

The porch section also makes for a great place to store gear and boots. If you have some extra campers with you it can act as another room for sleeping, unless there is some sideways rain coming in.

Perfect for longer camping trips and big groups.

Take this to a music festival and you’ll be the most popular person there.

It comes with a rain fly, but keep in mind that the fly can make the tent get hot.

The floor is made from waterproof welded polyethylene to help keep any water below from getting inside.

    Our Take:

The Mountain Trails Grand Pass 10 Person Tent is a big, 2 room tent that will work perfectly for your family’s next big camping adventure!

The dimensions of this tent are L 18 x W 6.3 x H 10. For a single family, this tent will give more than enough space for a few queen-sized beds with all your miscellaneous camping gear.

The frame itself is incredibly sturdy, designed with shock-corded fiberglass frame with a pin-and-ring system for easy setup.

With a height of 10 feet, you’ll also have more than enough room to stand up tall and stretch first thing in the morning to the sound of calling birds.

There are 2 large, D-style doors, for more convenient entry and exit along with several mesh windows all the way around the tent.

The Mountain Trails Grand Pass 10 Person Tent also comes with one room divider that easily zips up and gives some separation between parents and kids, or a group of campers. And in each room, there is plenty of space for beds and camping stuff.

The roof is also made of mesh which is perfect for those nice, clear nights and you want to do some stargazing. This open, mesh roof is also great for letting the breeze in and out of the tent helping to add some circulaiton.

For those not so clear nights when the rain is falling, this tent comes with a rainfly that gives good coverage over the tent including protecting the mesh windows and even creating a little canopy over the front door.

You may want to add on some of your own waterproofing spray just to make sure you’re set.. otherwise the rainfly runs great.

There are windows that run below where the rain fly sits on the sides so you can still get some fresh air even when its raining.

There are some storage pockets on the inside and one in the top, center of the tent to store all your important, smaller miscellaneous supplies.

One of the best parts about this tent is the price. You can find this for under $200 which is great for such a big tent.

Multiroom Tents For Families and Large Groups

Large multi-room tent for families

When it comes to camping it’s a foregone conclusion that you’ll be sacrificing many modern comforts.

You learn to live without running water, electricity, your rumba.

And when you’re camping with others, it’s assumed that you’re going to have to also sacrifice your space.

However, this assumption is wrong.

There are many large, multi-room tents on the market that you can take with you on your next car or RV camping trip that can fit your family, your friends, or even your whole scout troop.

MULTI-ROOM TENTS MAKE THE PERFECT BASE CAMP

Every adventure is different and demands specific equipment.

A multi-room tent is a perfect tent for groups or couples who need a reliable basecamp tent to be able to start and end each day.

They are also known as cabin tents.

Mountain Trails Grand Pass Tent - 10 Person
The Mountain Trails Grand Pass 10 Person Tent is a big, 2 room tent that will work perfectly for your family’s next big camping adventure.

Of course, you want to stay as minimalist as possible and challenge yourself to adapt to living outdoors.

At the same time, what’s wrong with comfort?

Or even setting up camp like you just signed a lease on an outdoor apartment?

Some people call this glamping.

However, despite what the ultralight animals think..

THERE’S NOTHING WRONG WITH GLAMPING.:)

FAMILY SIZED TENTS

Whether its a family camping outing, a scout troop, a class trip, or your filming outdoors with a crew, a multi-room tent is a one-stop solution to comfortably house everyone.

NTK Super Arizona GT up to 12 Person 20.6 by 10.2 by 6.9...
NTK Super Arizona GT 12 Person Tent is a big, 2 room tent with a detachable room divider, 2 Doors, 3 Windows Tent Designed for Easy Assembly with color-coded poles. .

This will help to eliminate the hassle of everyone having to bring their own tents which can add to your already cluttered gear mess.

Not to mention they help cut down on messy, stuffed tents so you never need to worry about stepping over someone to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

DON’T WORRY ABOUT OVERPACKING

For most smaller tents, the given capacity can be a bit deceiving.

For example, many times 2 person tents only actually fit 1 person, while 3 person tents barely fit 2.

Then you have to factor in things like sleeping bags, pads, bag and shoe storage.

Living space can get swallowed up fairly quickly.

If you’re a lightweight backpacker, you spend a lot of time cutting down your pack size and weight to hike daily with everything on your back.

Coleman Elite WeatherMaster 6 Screened Tent,Multi Colored,6L...
Coleman Elite WeatherMaster 6 Screened Tent includes a screen room for bug-free lounging and a WeatherTec system – patented welded floors and inverted seams help keep water out.. .

But as a car camper, there’s nothing worse than having to leave something at home because you don’t have space.

Especially when you know that thing would make the trip more enjoyable.

Like you know if you can sleep on that sweet Lazery Sleep Air Mattress that you’re going to sleep like a baby.

Unfortunately, it won’t fit in your smaller backpacking tent and you’ve got to deal with the cold, hard ground.

When you step up to a bigger luxury camping tent space becomes something that you no longer have to worry about.

Now you, along with 3 or 4 more people, can have room for all your belongings along with a nice mattress pad or air bed.

You can set up amenities like a portable fan, hang a space heater, a reading light and even just stand up without having to duck down.

Many of these bigger tents come with dividing walls creating separate rooms inside the tent.

This is a great feature for those wanting privacy, like a couples outing or a family on an adventure.

The outdoors is challenging enough. Leave your claustrophobia back in the city.

DOME and CABIN TENTS

You’ll often see multi-room tents listed as a dome or cabin tents.

These are simply the style that the manufacturer has decided to name the multi-room tents.

Everything is typically enclosed under one roof and many include removable walls that give camping groups the option of having their own rooms or having more space in one big room.

Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Deluxe 8-Person Tent
The Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Deluxe 8-Person Tent is Made with Hydra-Shield, 100% cotton duck canvas that is durable, watertight and breathable. .

CONNECTING TENTS

Connectable tents are single tents that can connect to each other with zippers to create larger, multi-room tents.

They usually have a tunnel that will connect the two tents which are sometimes also called pods.

Connecting tents offer a ton of flexibility.

They are a great option for those who want a large, luxurious, multi-room tent, but also want the option for a little extra privacy.

You’ll find of these connecting pod tents used at the Electric Daisy Carnival music festival in Las Vegas to comfortably accommodate festival campers.

The flexibility offered by connecting tents gives you more options for setting up your base camp.

You can make your shelter like an actual home along with accommodating more people.

Ozark Trail 16x16-Feet 12-Person 3 Room Instant Cabin Tent...
The Ozark Trail 16×16-Feet 12-Person 3 Room Instant Cabin Tent comfortably fits three queen airbeds or up to 12 campers in sleeping bags on the floor.

MULTI-ROOM INSTANT CAMPING TENTS

The instant camping tent has opened the door for more novice campers to get out into the backcountry.

Maybe more than anything else.

For a new camper or backpacker setting up a tent for the first time can be a frustrating experience.

Even experienced campers can be caught breaking a sweat setting up a tent correctly, especially if the weather isn’t cooperating.

However, a good instant tent makes it so you just pull the tent out, open it up and like magic you have shelter.

Instant pop up tents have become very popular for the lightweight backpacking crowd.

Mostly because after a long day of hiking you want to exert as little force as possible setting up your shelter.

But that same pop-up tent technology can also be found in these larger multi-room tents.

These instant camping tents can be set up in less than 2 minutes even if you’re a beginner because the poles are pre-attached to the tent.

This makes it so all you have to do is unfold and extend them.

MULTIROOM TENTS WITH PORCH

As if the luxury of space and separate rooms wasn’t enough, your inner glamper can rest assured that there are many multi-room tents that feature an attached porch.

You can find these as extra living space built into the side of the tent and usually are enclosed with a mesh screen.

Coleman Prairie Breeze Lighted Cabin Tent, 9-Person
The Coleman Prairie Breeze 9-Person Cabin Tent is a big tent with plenty of mesh all around for good air circulation.

This is great for those days and nights where the mosquitos are biting or there’s some rain falling.

A multi-room tent screened porch is a nice place to start your day with a cup of coffee.

Sit in the peace of nature and enjoy the outdoors’ ambiance.

There are tents that include the porch but without the screen.

This acts more like a canopy than anything else.

Even without the screen your tent porch still provides plenty of shade while you enjoy nature.

At the very least your porch will be a nice place to leave your boots and dirty gear.

MULTI-ROOM TENT FEATURES TO LOOK OUT FOR

Each tent will come with its own set of features and amenities.

Keep your eyes open for:

  • The tent’s dimensions both unfolded and packed: This will help you know how big of a space or lot you need, and how the tent will fit in your car.
  • Tent weight:Its safe to assume you won’t be doing any long-distance backpacking, but if you’ve got some distance between your campsite and your car this will be good to know.
  • Tent Materials: Stick with ripstop nylon, high denier polyester, or canvas for colder weather.
  • Rainfly: Not every tent will have a rainfly
  • Windows: Windows in your tent make warm summer camping bearable. Get those cool breezes in your tent without the mosquitos.
  • Side pockets: Many cabin tents come with pockets around the sides which is great for extra storage purposes.

WEATHER PERFORMANCE AND TENT CONSTRUCTION

While deciding on which tent to buy, keep in mind how the tent performs in different kinds of weather.

Most multi-room tents come very well insulated with lots of mesh windows and breathable wall construction.

Always check to make sure the tent comes with a rain fly.

If not, then see what materials the tent construction is made from.

You want a higher denier polyester or ripstop nylon wall construction at the very least.

If it’s coated with some kind of waterproofing material even better.

You also want to make sure the flooring is tough and waterproof and coated with polyurethane or any kind of antifungal materials.

Most of these tents will work as 3 season.

However, it is possible to find larger tents that work in colder weather.

Tents like the ALPHA CAMP 8 Person Instant Cabin Tent Camping and the Dream House Luxury Outdoor Waterproof Four Season tent are great 4 season cabin tents for the colder weather glampers.

Canvas dome tents like WHITE DUCK OUTDOORS Complete Canvas Wall Tent and Trek Tents 245C Canvas Cabin are also great for colder weather

CONCLUSION

No matter if you’re a big group, a small family, or a couple a good multi-room tent will make your camping experience better.

The space alone is worth every penny.

So is the freedom to bring the things you want to bring camping that you know you’re going to enjoy in the outdoors.

A large dome camping tent will give you the space to sleep on a comfy air mattress and hang a space heater.

You can sleep in one room while your kids sleep in another.

You can set up lawn chairs in the screened porch and watch the falling rain or drink a beer and listen to the bugs that can’t bite you.

For any camper of any experience level, a good multi-room tent will help make your adventure more comfortable and more enjoyable.
